Bottrill takes fine victory in Kettering Hilly
Matthew Bottrill, Drag 2 Zero, was in fine form on Sunday morning with victory in the Kettering hilly 20mile time trial. Riding aboard his Giant trinity time trial machine and selecting Smart ENVE 6.7mm wheels due to the high cross winds, and undulating course.Weather conditions where far from ideal with heavy rain and wind the conditions could only be describe has awful. But with but reasonable form and in a determind mood, and wanting the course record, which had stood since 1991-44.37 by Gary Dighton, a multi time trial champion and like Bottrill also working for Royal Mail.
Leaving the starting area at 10.40am, Bottrill set about breaking the record, using his O'symetric chain rings, putting to full use on the climbs and undulating roads " The rings give you a great sense of power, and I can really feel them working on the climbs they took a few rides to get used to, put I would be lost with out them now" ( kindly supplied by www.trainstrainsharpcyclecoaching.co.uk). Average speeds of 28-30mph, Bottrill was soon plowing through the field of riders and evently stopping the clock in a time of 42.42. Slicing nearly two minutes of the course record and winning the event from Matthew Sincliar, Lutterworth cycle centre by 1min38secs
Asked about his winning performance, Bottrill replied " Today's ride went well, all the new equipment and nutritional support I have been using/riding and the help Im being shown, is just fantastic! This is just the start of was is set to be a great season. Im more than happy with my form"
Next week Matt, takes a break from racing, to much a big weeks training in. So be sure to check back in in two weeks time, when he will be riding the A5 Rangers 31mile hilly time trial.
