SES AR Series Compatibility

SES AR wheelsets feature a straight sidewall/hookless bead design and are qualified for use with “Tubeless, Tubeless Ready (TLR)” tires, with a labeled width of 28c or greater ONLY. One may safely run inner-tubes as long as the tire itself is of a tubeless or tubeless ready construction. SES AR aerodynamics and stability are optimized when the wheelset is paired with a tire that is labeled as being 28c. Below is a list of approved/recommended tires as well as tires that have been proven incompatible and cannot be recommended at this time.

For tires listed as “incompatible/not recommended,” we are working with the tire manufacturers so changes can be made to move tires on to the “Approved” list. If a tire you would like to run is not listed, it does not mean that it is incompatible. Rather, we have not tested it yet. In the situation that you choose to run a tire that is not on the “Approved” list, you do so at your own risk. Please refer to our tire pressure recommendation chart for SES AR wheels (25mm Internal Width) and never exceed air pressure of 80psi/5.5bar for 28c, and 67psi/4.6bar for 32c.

Pressure Reminder – MAX PRESSURE FOR A 28MM TIRE = 80psi/5.5bar. MAX PRESSURE FOR A 32MM TIRE = 67psi/4.6bar

These tires sizes are compatible, but will eliminate aerodynamic advantage of the rim profile. If your intention is to run these tire sizes on a regular basis, the G Series G23 is better suited for these tires and applications. Please refer to tire pressure chart for recommendation and max pressure rating. Max tire pressures for tires in this size range will be between 35-60psi/2.4-4.1bar.

G Series Compatibility

SES G Series wheelsets feature a straight sidewall/hookless bead design to ensure best in class tubeless tire performance and are qualified for use with “Tubeless, Tubeless Ready (TLR)” tires, with a labeled width of 28c or greater ONLY. One may safely run inner-tubes as long as the tire itself is of a tubeless or tubeless ready construction.

Please note that the internal rim width of the G23 is 23mm and intended for use with tubeless ready tires between 32-45mm with 40mm tires being the primary focus of the design. The G27 features a 27mm internal width that is intended for pairing with tires between 42-60mm with 55mm/2.0” tires being the target tire width for this rim.

Due to the straight sidewall/hookless design of this rim and inherent high volume design, it is important to understand that not all tires are created equal and for that reason one should pay special attention to the pressure ratings of both the tire and the rim.

G23 – MAX PRESSURE FOR A 32MM TIRE = 60psi/4.1bar
G27 – MAX PRESSURE FOR A 42MM TIRE = 40psi/2.75bar

IN THE CASE THAT TIRE AND RIM MAX PRESSURES ARE DIFFERENT. THE LOWER OF THE TWO PRESSURES BECOMES THE DEFAULT MAX PRESSURE FOR THE SYSTEM.
THE MAX PRESSURE RATING FOR EACH RIM WILL DECREASE AS YOUR TIRE VOLUME/SIZE INCREASES. REFER TO RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE CHART.

ENVE Tip: Trust our tire pressure recommendation chart. The maximum tire pressure ratings on tires are not recommended operating pressures.Running the max pressure will not make you faster, rather, it will actually increase rolling resistance (making you slower) and discomfort (making you slower), jeopardizing the ride experience.
