Rebellious, unconventional, and pioneering are words that describe the one of its kind SES 4.5 AR Disc. Conceptualized for the cobbles of Paris-Roubaix through our partnership with Team Dimension Data, the SES 4.5 AR Disc was developed to deliver top shelf aero performance, stability, and comfort for virtually any road surface. The SES 4.5 AR Disc is available as a tubeless clincher and tubular model rim. The SES 4.5 AR Disc borrows from ENVE M Series carbon mountain wheel tubeless technology and features hookless beads. Hookless beads improve aerodynamic performance by aiding airflow from tire to rim as well as allow for the best tubeless tire performance possible. Like all Smart ENVE System aero wheels, the front and rear rims are specifically designed for the airflow seen at the front and back of the bike. As such, the front rim is more shallow and wider to maximize stability and the rear is deeper and narrower to aid in drag reduction. In addition to dissimilar geometries, the SES 4.5 AR Disc features a disc brake specific construction that saves weight, improves strength, and creates an unprecedented ride quality.

To better serve you we’ve created a page to stay up to date with tire compatibility. See all compatible tire models here.

I purchased my 4.5 AR’s almost a year ago now and have been absolutely thrilled with them!

A huge motivating factor in purchasing these wheels was the ability to order the hoops on their own, allowing me to build them up around a hub that suits my particular style and riding needs; this is an option that most other wheel manufacturers do not offer.

After lacing them up, I finally got to experience the incredible ride quality that precedes Enve wheels. With the AR series in particular, the greater rim width makes a huge difference. This allows for wider tires, which ultimately means increased comfort, control, and speed. All of these things combined deliver a ride that is buttery smooth and makes for a seamless transition from pavement to dirt/gravel. Although I mostly ride on paved roads, these wheels have allowed me to ride with greater curiosity wherever I go. I can now take the road less traveled with comfort and confidence!

I ordered these wheels after hearing a lot of good recommendations from other cyclists. I’ve learnt that good cycling equipment is an investment and this is definitely true for these wheels. After riding stock wheels for the past three years, the difference is phenomenal. I’m excited to push myself and my riding even further now because my bike just feels better and more efficient to ride (the good loons are a bonus!). Will definitely look at investing in some gravel wheels for future adventures from ENVE, but for now these tick all of the road-oriented boxes. 10/10.

I’m running the SES AR45 disc w/Chris King hubs on a 2020 Specialized Venge with the Schwalbe pro one tire in a 28mm. I’ve ridden many set ups in the past and this is my favorite to date. I love the low pressure you are able to run with the AR series as tubeless. The ride is so smooth and still very fast. The Chris King hub adds a bit to the price but I feel it is worth it. I would recommended this wheel to anyone and even put my wife on it.

I was intrigued when Enve came out with the AR line. In time for my next Epic build I had to try them. Building a 3T Strada Stealth Black Custom I felt the stars aligned. Innovative and forward thinking I was very intrigued with a wider inner depth rim and because this bike was designed to fit 28mm I felt this was the perfect balance of optimum aero capabilities when enhancing its comfort and control potential. Imagine an aero bike that suits its prime objective moving fast in a straight line but now has the ability to rail corners comfortably and with aggression. The wheels are light and fast. Running only 80-85 psi the control and comfort is unbelievable and maneuverability is impressive. Who says an Aero bike can’t do it all? Well with the Enve AR 4.5 Disc it can. At Ironman AZ 70.3 this was the perfect weapon for that course. Out and back sections, mild climbs and numerous sprint sections it was nimble, comfortable, fast and stealthy. On local group rides it holds its own even on climbs but smashes during the descents and flats. Running Vitoria Corsa Speed Tubeless Tires with DT Swiss 240 (54T ratchet) upgrade the wheels just sing down the road… Lastly, I also had versatility in mind. The wheels can also handle gravel… Simply brilliant!!!!

I absolutely love my 4.5 AR discs. I know that I have super-fast aero wheels on the road, and they can take any punishment when I hop onto a gravel road or trail as well. Perfect wheels for multi-surface riding, I have been using 28 mm tubeless tires and have my eye on 30s and even 32s to throw on and mess around with. Fast, smooth, versatile wheels!
