Fort William, endearingly referred to as Fort Bill, is widely regarded as one of the toughest, rockiest, and most unforgiving race courses on the UCI Downhill World Cup circuit. A staple in the downhill world, this event has been on the schedule since 2002. While it’s not the longest course racers will see, Fort Bill is often considered a true test of equipment and skills due to the harsh terrain and frequent rain.
Since ENVE entered the World Cup Downhill scene nine Fort Williams ago – a rider on ENVE wheels has won five times. A testament to the products and their resilience. With those kinds of odds, and the difficulty of the course – ENVE and the M Series show the strength required to continually stay at the top of the podium, and the innovation demanded to keep up with the increasing speeds and capabilities of downhill bikes and riders.
Take a look back through our winning years at Fort William, and the evolution of our M Series mountain bike products.
2011 – Greg Minnaar Wins Fort William on the DH Rims and DH Handlebar.
2015-2017 – Greg Minnaar goes on a 3 year winning streak at Fort William aboard the first generation M Series riding the 26” then 27.5” M90 and his signature DH handlebar, the Minnaarbar.
2019 – Amaury Pierron with the Commencal/Vallnord by Riding Addiction Team, wins Fort William aboard the latest generation of M Series with 29” M930 wheelset laced to Chris King hubs and the M9 30mm Handlebar.
Congratulations, from everyone at ENVE, to Amaury Pierron and the Commencal Vallnord by Riding Addiction Team. May he and the M Series wheels remain, ‘Kings of the Fort’ for many more years to come.
