ENVE PATENTS

Making everyday race products without tradeoffs requires serious technology. This is what differentiates ENVE products from the competition.

MOLDED SPOKE & VALVE HOLES

Patent #US 8,313,155

Our patented process of molding spoke and valve stem holes results in rims that are stronger and lighter. Because carbon fiber gets its strength from continuous fibers, ENVE routes the fibers around the hole without cutting them which increases the strength of each spoke hole.

This technique pays large dividends in the final product by allowing for a lighter spoke face while improving rim strength. Because of this process, our spoke holes are capable of maintaining higher spoke tensions which greatly reduces the risk of spoke pull-through and the need to constantly true your wheels. Strong, light and maintenance free.

SES AERODYNAMIC SHAPE

Aerodynamics Patent #US 8,757,733155

More than ever, aero is the name of the game on the road or race circuit. All of our carbon fiber road and triathlon wheels are developed in-frame (i.e., on the bike) as an integrated system. Wheels are tested on multiple frame designs in order to produce net drag reduction no matter which bike you ride.

This unique approach to testing results in a wheel system that incorporates specific shapes and depths for the front and rear wheels because the airflow interacts with the front and back of the bike in different manners.

FULL CARBON HUB SHELL

Patent #US 9,610,802 B2

We challenge ourselves to create wheels that are fast, strong, and light. To make this possible, we have created a one-of-a-kind ultralight hub that sacrifices nothing in terms of stiffness and durability.

Applying our proprietary carbon molding techniques the hub flanges are molded using continuous fibers to maximize power transmission from spokes to rim and road. The Carbon Road Hub debuted under team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung in the 2015 Tour de France and was ridden to a victory on Stage 14 by Steve Cummings.

HORIZONTAL TWIN BOLT DESIGN

Patent #US 9,446,807 B2

The ENVE Seatpost uses a unique twin bolt design making on-the-fly angle adjustments a breeze and to ensure that your saddle remains secured where you want it. The horizontally opposed bolt design allows for easy access to the hardware.

Like all ENVE components, the seatpost is molded in one-piece from unidirectional carbon fiber to achieve a lightweight, strong, stiff yet comfortable post.

PROTECTIVE RIM STRIP

Patent #US 10,052,911 B2

ENVE’s protective rim strip is made using a specially formulated material that acts as an extremely durable bumper between unforgiving obstacles in the trail and durable carbon bumper. The result is near elimination of “pinch” or “snake-bite” style flat tires.

Consequently, most carbon rims are broken and damaged after the tire has lost air pressure and the tire’s air pressure is no longer offering protection to the rim. Our promise is that our patent pending rim strip technology will result in less flat tires, fewer damaged rims and more time riding how you want.

WIDE HOOKLESS BEAD

Patent Pending

ENVE’s Wide Hookless Bead is the result of 2 years of carbon mountain bike rim development to address this above scenario. The result is a rim shape that features a wider leading edge.

This broad surface creates a more forgiving platform M525 on which the tire can bottom out, and proves extremely effective in reducing the likelihood of “pinch” or “snake-bite” style flat. In addition to greatly improving tire performance and reliability, the Wide Hookless Bead design beefs up the leading edge of the rim and allows for greater impact resistance.
